The Surprise

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Bell - Windermere Peninsula Properties

I was just reading some comments on the AR site when out of the blue I noticed a new statement that declared that I have received 2000 bonus points from Bob Stewart for my efforts in promoting Localism.

Thank you Bob Stewart. It was certainly a surprise. I must confess that I am thrilled with Localism.

Timing of the bonus points is peculiar because earlier today, I received a phone call from the Secretary of the Allyn Community Association. She was putting together the minutes from the Association's General Membership Meeting held last Thursday. It was at that meeting that I spoke about Localism. She wanted to make sure that community members could access the local LOCALISM site right away. I was happy to provide instructions and more information.

Also today, I received an E-mail from the North Mason Chamber of Commerce Director who has added a LOCALISM button/link to the Chamber Website and to their monthly newsletter that is sent by e-mail to over 300 Chamber Members. He has also added commentary and direct links to our localism blogs. Now that my friend is really cool. The Chamber Director also made some terrific comments on the efforts of the real estate community to feature the local area by providing photos, community features and really hip chat.

Lastly, at this mornings office meeting, I encouraged the agents to continue to take more outside photos and to post about their favorite places in the community.

You know folks - this thing we do - its working.

Gonna have to learn about "Localism" what is it? Is it just a link to the AR brokers with the most points in a particular town?

Brady, Thanks for the comment. The Chamber connection to localism is a natural. I am sure someone in the system has additional info on the subject. I'm still new to this thing. But Localism is in my opinion a great tool for agents to communicate with the public about their community.

Keith - I am a Broker also, and have discovered that Localism is the right tool at the right time to get agents back to networking using technology and old fashion gossip. Check it out and it not about points its making a connection to our neighbors.

Lanette, thanks for your kind words. And thank you Bobby for yours. And Richard in Hawaii Aloha. Thanks everyone.
