Spring Newsletter continued

I must have needed a good laugh!  In late March, the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) sent about 4,400 property owners in Los Osos letters warning them that they are breaking the law by discharging pollutants from their septic systems. Their logic? They didn't want people to think that they were unfair when they sent out the first 45 letters last year. They wanted to make sure that everyone in the "prohibition" zone" knows that they're serious about enforcing the "System Discharge Prohibition Zones". People would be unable to use their septic tanks by 1/1/11. Unfortunately the original 45 homes receiving letters have had to hire lawyers to fight the RWQCB. Some have settled, some cases are pending, but all will still need to stop discharging by 2011, if the sewer isn't installed by then. This is a very serious stuff, so you ask me, what's so funny?? I just couldn't help the flight of fancy my imagination took after tickling my funny bone. First, I figured I'd obtain a law degree to benefit from this situation. Then, I want to know how the State will monitor the water use?  After thinking of some names inappropriate to this newsletter, I came up with a few favorites...flush fuzz (FF) and toilet police, or TP. Can you imagine the State hiring TP to hang around in everyone's bathroom to monitor use? They will probably pay them $25.00/hr, which wouldn't be too much as the TP wouldn't be able to use the facilities either!  The possibilities for satire are endless and I'm sure you can come up with a few choice sentences on your own. Kidding aside, this is just another huge problem LO will have to face if the sewer isn't built, either by the county or CSD. The saga continues.......

Let's Move!
This reminds me of when I lived in Riverside.  One of my friends had gotten a letter from their water quality people informing her that for the last three months her water has been unsafe to drink, but it is safe to drink now.  Good old bureaucrats!
