Independent vs Franchise

During this troubled time in our economy, I am trying to resovle my troubled mind and I would like some expert opinions from Broker/Owners that have made the transition from Independent Brokerage to a Franchise Model! To give you a little history, I am a Broker/Owner of an Independent Brokerage in Lafayette, La. I have been open since 2006, and I currently have 7 agents. I am considering a Franchise, and I wanted to ask for opinions, suggestions, or comments! Any response will be appreciated!

I am not a broker/owner (yet) but I am interested to see what kind of response you get from this because my mom and I work together and have been talking about the pros/cons between working with a nationally recognized brand or an independently owned company.  Thanks for posting.

We as agent of a Century 21 franchise pays 8% fee to Century 21.  Do you want that extra expense?  Granted that we get some training materials from them and then we also share with C-21 promotion/marketing, I would rather stay independent if I can.  Keep blogging on AR, you'll get better share of referrals.  I never get a referral from C-21.  I don't know who is getting the leads.  All the leads go to the Corporate Office and they are dishing them out.  I do my own thing.  I sometimes wonder why I am still with them.
