Let's Be Safe Out There, Garfield Heights Residents

garfield heightsI've been reading with ever-increasing alarm about crimes on the rise in Garfield Heights. These aren't your regular car-jackings and burglaries.  These are crimes of opportunities for certain.

Young kids, probably teenagers, are catching residents as they go for late-night strolls.  I'm sure you see them all the time - couples, neighbors, joggers, etc., out in the evening after 8 p.m. for a walk, jog, or run.  A bunch of kids accost and then rob them.  Police are looking and doing all they can to catch the culprits but in the meantime, be safe!

  • Definitely don't walk out alone at night!
  • Stay in well-lit areas when you do go out.
  • If you see a suspicious group coming toward you, cross the street!
  • Whatever you do, do NOT confront them!
  • If you are accosted, do not resist. Your purse, wallet, watch, necklace, whatever, is NOT worth getting hurt to save!!

Be safe!

Renae,

Good post. It's also a good time to remind Realtors of being safe when showing properties. Never show a vacant alone with a person you have never meet. Mett clients at the office for the first meeting is a standard policy I have for myself where I can get a feel for the person, get information about them etc. Great reminder Renae!

Tony - Those are things that agents should be constantly reminded of!  It is such a dangerous world we live in now. Agents need to be ever-mindful of their surroundings and the people they are conducting business with.  We ALL need to be safe!
