Should I float? Should I lock? - Daily Update for Friday, November 14, 2008

Mortgage and Lending with Amerisave Mortgage Corporation

Here are the daily thoughts on floating or locking if you are asked by your clients.

As always - consult your favorite mortgage professional who will be able to offer the best advice for YOUR unique situation.

Ouch!  Retail sales were expected to be bad, but this is horrible.  According to record keeping this is the worst report in 16 years.  After yesterday's run up in the stock market due to hitting a key support level - look for another sell off to occur today.

Technically speaking - the FNMA 6.0% 30 year bond fell back below the 200 day moving average yesterday on a late stock market rally.  The bond is hovering just under the overbought state..

I am recommending to

  LOCK your mortgage rate.
