Carlsbad Schools have a very good reputation in San Diego County.
If you are considering moving here and are conducting your due diligence on schools, you will find plenty of information to attest to that statement. Ask the neighbors in the areas you are interested in. Talk to the school district itself, who can put you in touch with parents who are willing to share their thoughts on these terrific schools. It's an important part of assessing if a particular area is where you want to buy your new home, whether you are a first time buyer, or are relocating here from another area.
Several Carlsbad Schools were just awarded top honors here in California. And as the North Coast section of the Union Tribune quoted the state's Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O'Connell, they are "the best of the best."

These honors serve to reinforce the terrific educational opportunities afforded residents and their children here in Carlsbad. And of course it reflects well on other schools in our area that feed into these high schools.
This is good news for Encinitas students too, as La Costa Canyon High School serves those residents as well.
San Diego County should be proud, as 6 other secondary schools were honored as part of the top 7% state-wide - San Pasqual HS in Escondido, Valley Center HS, Coronado HS, Valhalla HS in El Cajon, The Preuss School at UCSD, and Rancho del Rey Middle School in Chula Vista.
Congratulations to the students, teachers, and administration for these honors!
Oh, and don't be dismayed if the elementary schools were not honored - elementary and secondary schools are honored in alternating years.
