Gmail signature hint

By
Real Estate Agent with Coastal Properties Group International - Christie's International

Gmail Those of you using gmail may have noticed that by default your signature line is at the bottom.  This may sound sensible, but when you've had several back and forth e-mails, it gets lost way way down on the page, unless you take the time to cut and paste it or redo it.

Doesn't have to be.  You can have your signature automatically come at the bottom of your new gmail reply.

  1. When in your gmail, click on Settings in the top right bar.
  2. Click on Labs  (that's right, don't go to the Signature box on the general tab)
  3. Scroll down to Signature Tweaks.
  4. Click on Enable.
  5. Then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.

That's it! Then your signature box will come up at the top when you click Reply, so that it is right below whatever you type in as your response.

Part of Marketing is always making it easy for people to reach us. They may want to call you instead of e-mailing. Moving the signature to the bottom of your reply helps.

p.s.  since I use an e-mail account for my general business and a g-mail account when I'm at home or out of town, I'll usually say to my team mates, either  "email it to me" or "gmail it to me". That's shorter than saying, email it to my gmail account.

I send all of my e-mail accounts through Outlook.  It makes it nice because I can use multiple signatures for different accounts and purposes.

Sharon- That is great to know. I was just wondering how to do that when I was at NAR. I have outlook but it is great when you are away to forward them to gmail.  I love gmail, we use it for many different reasons. I have one email with gmail just for google alerts, another one just for ads for resumes for like buyer agents etc., we have another one set up for newsletters we subsribe to. Then I don't feel MORE overwhelmed with the amount of emails I get!

Great practical tip Sharon to keep that signature readily accessible and seen with GMail.

Hi Sharon I was reading how Google ties all their services and g-mail is one of the links it uses. I find it all fascinating as we become more and more transparent on line.

I use GMail for my business mail, but it gets "pushed" to my Outlook.

When away from the office, i can access my e mail anywhere.  The only downside of GMail, is that all the e mails from the same person end up as a "conversation" and if you dont look closely, you may miss a new e mail.

Anyone have a way around the "conversations"

Great tip, Sharon.  I also use Black Canvases Gmail Signature tool.  You can find it here.  Very helpful if you want to include a Feedburner Icon or Scrolling Marquee for your blog entries so folks can subscribe!

Angelica - good for you, and you're welcome.

Russell - it's nice to be missed. We can all help each other.

Jeff - I like getting my emails (or should I say gmails) on my iPhone.

Randy - please tell me about the multiple signatures. I used to use those on Eudora (my favorite email program) all the time but I haven't found them on Outlook.

Katerina - I agree. I like google alerts and all the other stuff, but don't like sorting through them all the time. I find multiple emails something of a pain, so I have my google alerts go into a folder in gmail, then I can look at them when I want without changing accounts.

BB - didn't know there was anything that would be new to you.

Cyndee - far too brief. Come on down to downtown St Pete and let's have lunch.

Gary - yes, indeed.

William - I love all that google does. It's always improving, and most of it is free.

Barbara-Jo - hope it helps.

Jesse - I use my gmail every day.

Lisa - the fact that the newer ones that I haven't read show up in bold works for me.

Kevin - thanks for the tool.

Okay, so I use outlook and have a yahoo account.  I have thought about getting a gmail account.  I am so far behind the times, I don't know what is best.  I have also been toying around with getting a domain, and using that as my email address.  Thing is, I want the ability to access my emails on my cell phone, and when I am away from my laptop, but don't know what would be the best choice as far as setting this up.

Hi Troy

I use G mail and have it go to my outlook  as well as to my blackberry.  You can access Gmail thru your cell phone.

If you get a domain with an e mail, you would still need to "push" your e mail to an account such as yahoo, gmail etc

On the advice of trusted colleagues, I have migrated my email accounts from Outlook to Gmail and everything is routed through my Blackberry. Setting Gmail to process incoming email from 6 separate accounts was painless. And, there are settings to ensure you always reply with the correct email address.

After following the steps in your tip, Sharon, I discovered I had already enabled Signature Tweaks. Now, I just need to make my signature look pretty.
