Plaxo Vs. LinkedIn

WHICH SOCIAL NETWORK DO YOU USE AND WHY?

I subscribe to both of these services but I wanted to get some feedback from AR members to see what they are using more frequently. It seems to me that Plaxo is more progressive because it utilizes Pulse. Pulse allows you to Plaxo imagetake your contacts with you(It is a service I am going to start using). You can also share content from Youtube, Flicker, Amazon and Picasa. I only discovered how many features are available on Plaxo recently.I had not realized that there were multiple features which I was overlooking.

Linked In seems to be less cutting edge. If I am missing features on this service let me know. I am always looking for new tools and tricks. But, with over 30 million professional members how can one even think to overlook it as an option? I received a couple of new connections on my LinkedIn account after the NAR convention in Orlando. It would be an obvious deduction that the service was doing some promotion at the event.

Link me in or Plaxo me. I am always looking to expand my social network.

I have been utilizing Plaxo and have not tried LinkedIn. Plaxo seems to work well for me.

I have not used Plaxo, and was invited to LinkedIn.  I accepted the invitation, and have had one other connection, but honestly, as your post suggests, who has time to keep up with ALL of it?  My nieces, and some stager friends from AR invited me to Facebook, but I rarely even go there...Another AR friend invited me to Twitter, and I have not yet accepted.  I am a night owl, but even then I choose to do other things than try to hit every networking site I'm on!  Special comment just for you: THINK SNOW!! =O)

I like linked in but I've recently joined facebook.  Myspace is for people under 30 and high school kids so I won't join that site.

I'm in Linkedin but not Plaxo.  I'll have to check Plaxo out.  Actually, I've gotten into a number of places and they all seem to blend in.  I believe Linkedin has a "buzz in" application that will let you set up different channels (based on there" and you can get posts on that topic.  I need to explore all of these more to see how I can best use them.

I've been on Linkedin, Facebook, and mostly here at AR. Each has it's oun strong points and stumbling blocks. Just this week I've gotten hooked on BrokerAgentSocial.com and I like it. Sort of a mix of FB and AR. But AR has helped my web placement much more than all of the others combind. So I love AR!

BTW Any and all AR'ers, I would be happy to connect on FB, LI, or BAS, Just mention AR in the request. My email is mikepulskamp@mainstreetbrokersonline.com

Hi Sabrina, I'm on Plaxo, Facebook, MySpace (to keep up with my kids' picture), and LinkdIn.  I recently went to a seminar (at the convention) regarding social networking.  His opinion was the AR is a great blog site but isn't any good for social networking, just for keeping up.  (Apparently I disagree), but he said that of the other ones LinkdIn is the only one that will benefit your ranking on Google of other search engines  Just a thought

Hi Sabrina,

Plaxo works better for me because of Pulse.  I like the idea that it integrates with Outlook.  I also have LinkedIn but I don't see the benefits yet.

Barbara I did not know that LinkdIn affected search engine ranking in Goggle. I knew you would bring me back some invaluable information from the convention.

I love to get a little glitter in my knowledge bank.

Plaxo always crashes my computer.  LinkedIn seems to be picked up by search engines more.

Sabrina, I think you have to be on Linked In, as everyone who is someone has a Linked In profile.  Also it's a great way to have a complete, nice-looking resume in a professional format online.

I'm on both Linked In and Plaxo, I think it's important to be on as many of the major social networking sites as possible.  It gives you more Google hits, especially when you keep them updated.
