I AM SURE YOU CAN RELATE!!!!

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Platinum

This past weekend I was at a couple of parties, being introduced to a lot of new faces.   As soon as they asked me what I did, and I responded "In real estate", their reactions were all th same.  "Oh....."  "I'm so sorry", "When was the last time you actually sold something in this market", etc etc etc.

I am sure we have all been there.  It was almost comical!  I answered back that I sold a house last week, and although it hasn't been my best year this year, it certainly hasn't been my worst.  I went on to discuss the advantages of this type of market, especially for first time home buyers, with all the crazy deals out there, as well as the Feds $7500 credit.   Many have never heard of this information, since all they see is the gloom and doom of foreclosures, the credit crisis, etc.  It was refreshing to be able to enlighten them on these positive topics for a change.  I live in Wisconsin, where we have been fortunate enough to not feel the pains as badly as some of you all in other areas.

Of course it is a tough year, for real estate and for just about any industry.  So the next time you get this same reaction/scenario, take the opportunity to shed a positive light on things.  Then you can see their reactions!!!

Hi Kristin...My year has been excellent.  I almost feel badly telling people that, especially fellow agents.

Every year is a new year.  It is way too soon to know about 2009.  Hopefully we will see improvements across the board but it may take longer than we would like it to.

Hi Kristin - I can certainly relate.  I've had a very "normal" year in a not normal market and I enjoy the looks I get when I tell people that I'm doing fine.  Just like you, I give them the reasons why it makes sense for both first time buyers and move up buyers to make a move in this market.
