Home Buyer and Home Seller Expectations: How Many Clients Do You Have?

Consulting with home buyers and home sellers on a regular basis gives me a chance to hear some familiar questions. One questions that some home buyers and home sellers ask is, “How many clients do you have?”

Interestingly enough, this question is posed for two very different reasons usually. The question is posed for different reasons for both the home buyer and the home seller.

Home buyers tend to be of the belief generally that if a Realtor has less clients then  they will receive more attention. Sellers appear to ask this question because their belief is that the more clients that the Realtor has had then the better service they will receive.

Now let’s dispel these myths. Whether a Realtor has one client or one hundred clients past or present is not an indicator that more attention will ensue or better service. Now read  this carefully, the real answer rests in SYSTEMS. Yes, SYSTEMS. The quality of service and level of attention you receive as a home buyer or home seller will rest in the quality of systems that the Realtor has in place.

Think about it. Systems create an experience that is consistent, predictable and reliable.  It is systems that drive any successful business. So home buyers and home sellers, the next time that you speak to a Realtor, instead of asking, “How many clients do you have?” ask “What type of systems do you have in place for your business?”

The answer to this will tell you whether they are ready to give you the type of experience you are looking for.
