Possible Cracked Heat Exchanger - Flame Roll Out Video

By
Home Inspector with Complete Home Inspections, Inc. TN Lic#050

Not too many real estate professionals get an opportunity to see some of the things that goes on in the home inspection world. I wanted to share an experience of what a home inspectors look for while testing a typical forced air furnace. As the video shows, flame is rolling out of one of the burner cavities which is an indication of a potential cracked heat exchanger.

Great information Michael.  I always refer my buyers to the experts but it is nice to know what they are talking about.  Thanks.

I love the video tip buddy.  Very nice job.

I have yet to see an inspector get this up close and personal with a boiler or furnace in my entire career.

Nice video.  Short and to the point.  I liked that.  And seeing that fire up close was educational.

Hi Michael,

Reminds me of back home. We have electric heat here in Florida, but in New York we heated with natural gas.

Great video and was that on a tripod or did someone take it?

How long do you spend at a home inspection?

Michael - Would this have the potential of carbon monoxide? I don't remember why, but I thought that was what a cracked exchanger could do.
