Richard:  Why can't you simply divert your energies to doing things that unite this country ?   Unity is such a major and necessary part of the whole that brings success and growth.  I don't get it !

Funny,

Now that a Democrat is about to be president, its "time to unite".  Before that? Where was the Democratic unity behind the pres?

Its not just the other guy that is being partisan.

Truth be told, there are not two sides to this, there are at least 3.  The blind that follow the Democrats, the blind that follow the Republicans and then the rest of us who are fed up with the BS of the Dem/Rep standoff.

'bama isn't going to save anyone or anything.  He can't.  Just like good ol' W couldn't for the Reps.

The problem is the bureaucratic boondoggle we call Congress with their "rules".

As much as I would like to see unity, we will never have it as long as the bid'ness as usual goes on in DC.  Pelosi & Co. have managed to eek out the lowest approval rating EVER. Yep we need change, but we got a whole lot more of the same with a larger majority in both house AND the prezidensy.

Mike:  Under Bush... we did not have someone to "unite" behind.  So many wanted to simply run away from him.  It's was a pretty easy choice to decide NOT to unite behind a liar... and Bush surely was a liar.

But just in these two or three weeks or so since the election... Obama has shown more ability... much more... than President Bush showed in his entire 8 years.

As far as Nancy Pelosi is concerned.  Yes... I would love to see her tossed out.  She is very divisive... and I am sure there are many, many better choices out there.

Even if those who Obama has chosen seem to be more of "the same"... many of them are from the Clinton era.  So ?  The country was so much better after eight years of Clinton... than it is/was after eight years of Bush/Cheney/Rove.

Karen,

Thank you for illustrating the point so well.

If it goes the way you like it, then unite!  If it doesn't then there's a plausible excuse not to.

Thus the large and getting larger third faction.

Wow Im a Republican but this entire issue over birthright and citizenship is so daft.

Whatever ever happened to qualification, leadership, integrity and charisma?

There are way more important economic issues to deal with then citizenship, stained dresses from whorey little tarts or whether or not the President  snorted a line of coke in his 20's.
