Sooo.........what your cooking?

A question I have for today's career woman or single guy's is, do you use your kitchen range to cook or it easier to use a microwave to cook your meals. I myself do not use the microwave so must as to cook , but more for reheating left-overs or foods that require little time to heat up instant of using the oven.
There are two type of ranges, they is gas and electric type. The reason some people prefer electric ranges they say is because they are afraid of gas appliances, here in the southwest region it appears that gas units are the favorite appliance for cooking.

This is an old type electric range. If you notice two of the heating elements are not working properly, all heating elements are set on high. To check if your heating elements are working correctly set all your setting on high for about 3 to 5 minutes. A correct working heating element will look like the two other bright glowing red, and in case you did not know this is also the way one cleans the heating elements of a range.

This is a glass top electric range. This a more modern type of electric unit and are easier to keep clean than the older type units. On this unit you  can see the rear left heating element is not working. Here in the picture you can not see it , but this unit was not designed for free standing, its a built in type.

Here is your gas type ranges, see the color of the flame there a pretty blue color with no yellowish tips. This is the correct flame pattern and color. this is a free standing type unit with your average BTU burners and with electronic ignitor. Again to check the correct flame the control knobs are set on high.

This type unit is a gas cook top, as you notice is sitting and built into the counter-top with a built in exhaust vent adjacent at the back of the unit.

Well as for me I prefer to cook outdoors on my grill or as some part of the country is knowed as BBQing outside.

From what I can see, gas ranges are widely preferred over electric on Kauai.  That's because it's much cheaper due to high electricity prices here.  Economics speaks loudly!

Roy,

Gas is the only way to go.  Instant heat, and more control of the temperature.

It is hard to warm a tortilla on an electric range.  They get the burnt print on them when they are done.  Wish I had a picture to show you the difference from warming one on electric to warming one on a gas range.

Roy,  I had to pay you a visit after reading your comments and seeing your pic at Sherry Scales' blog.  You are just too funny.  Now, about your blog.  I do both, but unfortunately a lot more microwaving lately.  However, I really admire true cooks like you ... that's why I always make sure to step out of the way when chefs like you enter the kitchen.
