In 1967 the successful entertainer Liberace purchased a former inn called "The Cloisters" located near downtown Palm Springs. Liberace properly renamed it "Casa de Liberace." It was built in 1930 and has 7 bedrooms with 8 1/2 baths.
The original garage became another living room and sadly this was to be the room where Liberace lived during his final days. Liberace died in 1987 after losing his battle with AIDS.
A real estate investor Stephan Hemming, later bought the home for $750,000. Most furnishings were long gone, some had been sold and some were moved to the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas (www.liberace.org). The home is currently listed for $2,495,000 and still has the glittering chandeliers, romantic fireplaces, and beautiful beamed trussed ceilings. This authentic Spanish Hacienda has gorgeous mountain views and has all the original charm that this pianist legend exuded.
