To Everyone who is thinking of the less fortunate, I have worked with the local food bank for years and just wanted to give you some information.  No matter what though, please donate if you can!!!

1.  $1.00, Typical can of food cost about a dollar

2.  $.28, Cost of the Food bank to feed a family one meal,

3.  8-10 pounds, amount of food the food bank can buy with one dollar.

Please donate money, it goes alot further and can be used when needed the most.  It is interesting that most people donate during the winter months so during the summer is when the food banks need help the most.

If you have some time join me and my family at a shelter and give some of your time to the people who need us the most.

Best Wishes, Brady Howard

I donate to food banks throughout the year.  It is nice to be able to give when so many people need it.  Thanks for reminding us all to give.

I will definitely be donating this year to the people that are unfortunate in our society. Even though our society is very rocky this year, we still have to think of the people that have it worse than what we think is "bad". Thanks for the nice reminder.

I think that most people donate during the winter months because they are being reminded more by the upcoming holidays that there are people in need of food and everyone seems to be collecting items.  Thanks for providing the numbers, if food banks can buy in bulk or negotiate better prices then it only makes sense to donate money instead.

Thanks guys, I used to donate to the homeless, but I never reallly saw anything for it.  I took some friends and went on the grand tour, most of the people that work there are volenteers.  They get alot of food that goes bad so you have to check it out.  Really though the best way is to give cash, it goes 20 times farther

They have some other programs

1  thier after school program which feeds kids there only hot meal of the day.  90% of the food goes to this program.

2  Meals for working families that cant afford food

3.  food for the homeless,  this is the least amount of food that goes out.  Most of that comes from local churches.
