So now I better play or my friends in the Rain will be very disappointed.

My computer has been on the fritz for 2 days, and I have not been able to post, although I got in a couple of comments before the beautiful big blue screen appeared.

I had lots of Dell books lying around, the Maxtor Mini guide for restoring my computer etc., but those seem too technical and too boring ---

Before the crash, I was reading a great little book entitled "Permission to Succeed" by Noah St. John.

The Chapter which includes page 56 was dealing with negative reflections which get in the way of giving yourself permission to be your "authentic self." Here is what Noah St. John discusses at page 56, line 5

"The Solution"

"I began working with Susan by telling her that depriving herself in no way helped other people. I showed her that, in fact, depriving herself not only did NOT help others, it actually hurt those around her, because the people who loved her wanted her to have what made her happy. Also, we need to provide for ourselves to that we have energy to give to others"...

In these challenging times, it is good to remember we should not deprive ourselves of those things we love - take a walk, spend time with a loved one and get a little treat for yourself... maybe a nice hot chocolate or a massage! Get in touch with your Authentic Self and Give yourself PERMISSION TO SUCCEED!

... one sentence from your post..."..depriving herself not only did NOT help others, it actually hurt those around her,..." made me wonder how many real estate professionals are subject to an odd deprivation... and ...

should we take extra helping of mashed potatoes with gravy and butter as a wee remedy...just in case?? =)

Joan~ The computer crash was not fun! It looks like it is time for a new computer! I can't believe that in just under 5 years, a computer is quite obsolete. I am also looking forward to the retreat. I saw today the govenor took LCHIP out of the budget, so I am sure they will be going after the transfer tax! It is going to be a busy year at public policy!

OMG -- It is a message from Noah St. John himself!

I went to a seminar Noah gave in Nashua, New Hampshire many years ago and I have read his books, and regularly participate in various on-line events.

With things being so challenging today and business being off, I pulled out the book a few days ago to read it again! It really got me off my duff and reminded me of what I need to do to be successful in these challenging times.

Thanks Noah for the comment and the link to your new book. I am looking foward to reading it.

Mike~ Thanks for visiting the post. The book meme has really gotten a lot of exposure. I miss my days at the U of A! I remember some nice warm Thanksgivings with my college roommate in Phoenix. Have a great Thanksgiving -- and check out Noah -- he is a great teacher!
