Just returned from Orlando and the National Association of Realtor's annual convention. Prior to the convention I attended the debut class for the NAR Green Designation program. Since I already had the EcoBroker designation I qualified for the elective credit immediately and poof! I'm the first NAR GREEN designee in Oregon.
The class was engaging and packed with information, but most importantly, it allows me to participate in one of the hot topics of conversation these days. You can't pick up a newspaper, magazine, ezine or even look a the side of a bus and not see references to Green and Sustainable events, practicies and products.
There is mometum in the real estate community to create leaders in the real estate field that understand the enhancements in comfort, health and liveablity that can be gained for the consumer in a green built or green remodeled home. As building science evolves there are continuing advances, but the principles behind the technology are fundamental and make common sense when put into context. This class serves as a baseline and as it is with all complex topics, it becomes a launching pad to keep learning more.
Imagine a Sustainable World, be Part of the Solution
