I like to help people. It's what I do and what I'm good at. So it is a natural for me to help homeowners who need assistance when they find themselves unable to keep up with their current home and need to sell it quickly!
Of all the homeowners I have assisted though, I haven't run across anyone who was just a deadbeat. These are real people who have just had some tough breaks. Most of the ones I've helped have been the victim of divorce, job loss, death of a spouse or severe medical crisis. It is really sad to hear some of the stories and always makes me feel good when we are able to negotiate a short sale and they can salvage most of their credit and be able to move on. Likewise it is rewarding when they can renegotiate their interest rate with their lender. Although I don't make any money in the transaction those homeowners become my best referral source.
So this holiday season instead of donating a turkey or working a day at the soup kitchen this will be my way of helping a needy family!
