Don't be a Turkey on Thanksgiving...be a turducken! Back in Nov. 2007 I posted this blog so I thought it would be nice to revisit it by repositng it for this years Gala Holiday Event. This year I'm off to take my family to Disney for Thanksgiving.
Selling homes in Weston Florida can really be hectic at this time of the year and with the holidays approaching....I'm sure everyone is making big plans to spend extra time with their families. Tomorrow it will be Thanksgiving and I'm just here to talk a little bit about the food we eat on this gracious day.
Just remember that this holiday is for giving thanks and beside giving thanks I'm going to be eating quite a bit of food. "Ah...I can smell the aroma now...those candied yams...the cranberry sauce....the mashed potatoes with gravy and don't forget that stuffing...just to name a few."Of course to top it all off we usually have the traditional 40lb turkey or the that sweet succulent ham with brown sugar and pineapples on top. There is usually so many different types of foods and I'm not sure I have enough room to fit it all in my tummy and keep my girlish figure.
But I think this year we might try something a little different...has anyone ever heard of a Turducken? Yes..you heard that right....a Turducken. From the parital definition taken from wikipidea......a Turducken is a de-boned turkey stuffed with a de-boned duck.. which itself is stuffed with a small de-boned chicken.
If you are a football fan you might remember a few years ago during the NFL double feature of games shown on CBS and later Fox....John Madden would talk about all the delicious foods and how he would have his annual Turducken as part of his holiday dinner. I remember he even went as far as to bring it during a regular season game after he saw a patron actually roasting one in the parking lot. John Madden is a big boy! Sharing food with your friends and family is a great way to catch up with people you haven't seen in a long time and another way to enjoy relaxing in your home. Weston Florida is going to be a very exciting place this year to celebrate the holidays. Photos are courtesy of MMFRUIT and lmingall from Flickr. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families! Hi Neal - I like the new family pic! Hope there's more than the three of you to take on a turducken, all of the side dishes, and dessert. Happy Thanksgiving!
Neal - from our family to yours, I hope you have a great TurDucken Day! Thanks for being such a good friend, I am truly grateful for that! Enjoy the Day and your family today...... and everyday. :-)
Neal, what an outstanding family you have. I hope you have a great time at Disneyland and enjoy being a kid again.
Dying to know what you thought about the Turduckin...was it good and would you have it again?
That is a LOT of stuffing going on. It sounds like it will leave you stuffed, too! I hope you had an amazing day of giving thanks. GBU~
Neal.... I remember part of this post from last year... and when John Madden talked about a turducken back then, I just thought he has been sipping some wine with Al Michaels... lol Thanks for the turkey lesson.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family... even though I am late to the party. And I like the new pic.

Always my good friend so far away....just as I told Missy....I went back to River walk and tried to get back into the Lennon room at the Hard Rock...I told them that I had all these drink tickets that you gave me...but they said I couldn't get in without my official AR shirt which I'm still waiting for.:)..Happy to you and your family!

Jeff,
You are always late to the party from what you say at others parties...I hope you had a great time spending it with your family...I rarely post any pictures of my family on the Internet for other reasons but I changed my mind today.
Neil,
Now that you mention it Turducken did come up some years ago and it probably was big John Madden who I heard it from. He ought to know a thing or two about good food. Happy after Thanksgiving.
Aloha Neil,
Turducken is truly a delicious holiday treat. Thanks for sharing your dinner of thanks, mmmm looked fabulicious. Happy Holidays!
Peace,
A Turdicken is new to me. Thanks for mentioning it so I can check it out.

Hi to my friend in Weston. Yes, Weston is a wonderful and beautiful place to spend the Holiday's. As far as the Turduckin...they are delicious!! I used to live in Sarasota and they have a restaurant that specialized in Turduckin....in fact it was featured on The Food Channel...ummm good!!!
Happy Friday!! Lori
Hello All,
Sorry I'm late but we didn't get back from Orlando until Monday. We actually didn't have any turkey at all so I surprised you all. We couldn't find a place that had any Turduckens either but I'll tell you...it's awesome if you get a chance...maybe I'll get my wife to cook one for our annual holiday party this year.
Hi Neal, Being a traditionalist, the thought of Turducken does not sound all that appealing. Love the Turkey not sure I can handle duck with it, lol. But all the other stuff sounded great. I cook the traditional meal and I will say it was near fabulous. I use the word near because I don't to brag too much, LOL.
