"Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness..."

dec  You may recognize these words, penned by Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence. They are also the inspiration for the title of the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness".

To give you a brief overview if the movie... happyness

It is inspired by the true story of the life of Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith). Chris is basically trying to live the American Dream, and create a better life for his family. His sacrifice, determination, and persistence are truly inspirational. As he fights for a job as a stock broker, he has to work hard at making so many calls a day, to get so many prospects a day, in order to get a certain number of accounts a week. (It reminded me a of getting started in real estate).

There were some amazing quotes throughout the movie, but there was one that really made me think. "You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can't do it. You  want something? Get it. Period."

Yesterday, Randal Keberlein commented on one of my posts, and he said this, "It is amazing that the harder you work the luckieryou get!" I think that is the secret of how to to become successful. After hard-work and determination, the pieces will begin to fall into place.

This is my first year in real estate, and I have to admit it has required more sacrifice, determination, and persistence then I could have ever imagined. I know it will all pay off. All my life I have dreamed of what I would one day become, and until now, I have been looking for the right career.

In many ways, I saw myself in that movie. If you are looking for a little inspiration, or if you just want to take in a good move, consider watching "The Pursuit of Happyness".

Here is a link to the movie trailer for "The Pursuit of Happyness".

Kristy--I too saw the movie and thought it was inspirational that against all odds you can have success. Interesting way to relate to your first year in real estate but I do see the connection. Work hard and you will succeed but remember to take some time out for yourself and family. Real estate can be overwhelming too!

Good Luck!

Chris Gardner is going to be speaking at a equity management seminar in Las Vegas in June. That should be pretty motivating!!

Kristy-

Great Post!! :-)  The movie was good for me on so many levels, but the fact that working hard, with the right motivation will take you further than anything else. There are no shortcuts in life, but for those who stay at it consistently, the reward is always there. You are going to do great! Keep at it!

Teri~ Thanks for taking the time to read this, and comment.

John~ Too bad he is speaking all the way in Vegas (although it would be fun to take a little vacation to Vegas).

Alecia~ That is very true, there are no real shortcuts in life.

Great post... sorry I didn't catch it earlier. I just watched the movie last week and it was not only inspiring, but reminds you how strong the bond can be between father and child.
