Making it fun again!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Integrity - Team Leader

There was recently a group of realtors in my office that came up with a great idea to get us back to having fun.  As we all know, the market hasn't given us any reason to jump up an down.  However, there is no reason we can't still be positive and have fun.  If you truly think about it, we have two options. 1.) Get out of bed, be positive and do what we should do to run our business or 2.) Find another job since we are so unhappy about this one.  Our clients will know if we are negative in general, and they will also know that we are positive and confident we will come out successful on the other side of this lagging time.

Keep real estate fun!  Have a friendly competitiion, keep track of the activities you do and meet every week to see what others are doing.  I know, there are agents out there that don't want to share anything with anyone.  I'm happy to share with fellow realtors.....my reasoning?  It's going to take hard work to be successful, and the people looking for a hand out will not commit to the activities that have to be done to succeed, so share, unless your scared!

Check out this video, hopefully it will give you the extra boost to do just a couple more things that you normally would.

Ok you are right. It is so easy to not even go to the office some days. But I should and I will. With a smile.

Jake, I'm assuming when you say that the business is fun, that you mean we're making lots of money.

I've been doing this for almost 30 years, and the only fun I've had is cashing commission checks!

My advice to you is not to worry about the attitude in your office, worry about the attitude in you.  Let the others suffer if they choose to, take care of Jake and the "little Jakes"

My favorite saying is.... "It's a jungle out there.... so be the Tiger!"

Best of luck Jake.

Oh Larry!  You are a Tiger!  Look out!

Jake, I like your attitude and appreciate your post.  I also agree with Larry, but Tigers can have fun too.  I think whay you are doing will lead to cashing more checks.

Keep it up.

Who wants to work in a depressed environment? Not I. Personally if this job is ONLY about cashing a check then I would go find a new career. Great post!

Great post Jake! I've considered many times trying to gather a group of local agents and share what's working for everyone. I can understand not wanting to share specific advertising text or marketing materials, but general ideas....from where is each person seeing the majority of their business coming...? A couple of recent events I went to and your post is getting those wheels of mine turning again on bringing that thought to fruition. Thanks!

I think real estate is VERY fun. I've done lots of jobs over the years and real estate beats them all - hands down!

It IS FUN! It should always be fun!  Ones perception as we all know becomes ones reality.

What world will you create for youreslf? One that focuses on the hard work necessary to not only survive but THRIVE as a negative?  NO WAY! People have had to and currently do much "harder" work for considerably less reward.

Get out there and hustle!  Make incremental targets for yourself that are attainable.  Not targets so much made of closed deals but targets of the necessary steps that get us to more closed deals.  Do this with some co-workers.  Feed off of each others energy and get motivated.  Forge ahead and keep moving forward.

One day we look back at our body of work and we are proud of the accoomplishments in addition to cashing the checks!

Our industry like everything else in life, in the world, in the universe is COMPLETELY CYCLICAL.  Recognize that fact and quickly commit to being the very best at taking advantage of every opportunity.

What...Less opportunity in front of you today?  Go create some!  Network more, look for the opportunities you normally wouldn't look at.

Who wants life with regret?  Most importantly, and thank you Jake, HAVE FUN DOING IT!

It is most fun when you the appraisals appraise or you have all cash buyers; when an inspection goes great, when the buyer really wants to buy the property and doesn't have a laissez faire attitude about the purchase.   Always amazes me when buyers play hardball for something that expensive like they don't care if they get one of the most important purchases of their life after looking for years!  Lastly, closing on time with no financing delays!
