What the heck is non-meme anyway? I had been flagged and tagged. I was concerned. I asked Valerie what this was all about and she re-assured me that it was nothing serious, only a game. The object of the game is to select a book, and copy text from a certain page, and then tag 5 more people to do the same. That doesn't sound so difficult. I'll try and follow the rules. Here they are for you to follow next:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open to page 56.
3. Find the 5th sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 2 to 5 sentences.
5. Don't dig for you favorite book, the cool book or the intellectual one. Pick the closest.
6. Tag 5 people to do the same.
(and the Bible is not allowed)
Okay, as I look around all I see are magazines. Lots of art magazines that I read, and lots of car magazines my husband treasures. Next, I begin looking in the book shelves over my computer. I see lots of picture books on Kauai, Molokai, Art, Concept Cars, but no text on page 56. Ahh, I think I might have found the one. It's called, ORGANIZING FROM THE INSIDE OUT. The author is Jane Morgenstern.
Here's the text from page 56, beginning with sentence #6:
"Most people either dramatically overestimate or drastically underestimate the time required.
If you overestimate how long a project will take, you're likely to procrasinate forever and never get started. Let's say it's actually a three-day project but you've estimated three months. The job will seem hopelessly large, and you'll say, "Forget it! It's not even worth starting, I'll never get through it all!"
On the other hand, saying, "I'll tackle this Saturday morning before I go to the beach," absurdly underestimates the amount of time almost any organizing project will take."
Strange, I wonder why I found this towards the back of the shelf? I guess if you were to see the backseat of my car you would understand. I do a lot of open houses, and unfortunately these days there are not a lot of visitors. So, I go prepared with books, magazines, flyers, computer, etc. My car is the permanent home for most of it.
This is great advice to share with our Sellers. We want to showcase their house, not their belongings. An organized looking home is much more appealing to a Buyer, and much easier for us to attain good photos for flyers and the internet. It's never to early for a Seller to get organized.
