SOUPer Bowl

On Saturday, January 31, 2009, the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce (with Daniel Gale Sothebys) is presenting the 2nd Annual SOUPer Bowl event at the Fellowship Hall, United Methodist Church on Middle Neck Road. Local restaurants will vie for the chance to win the People's Choice and Judge's Panel Awards. Proceeds benefit the Chamber of Commerce.

Visitors will be invited to "buy a spoon" and become tasters. After receiving a ballot and a hand stamp, they will be able to stop at soup stations to sample the offerings of participating local restaurants. Bread and crackers will be provided free. There was a tie last year between Finn MacCool's Carrot, Leek and Potato Soup with Crispy Bacon and Bistro Du Village's Butternut Squash Soup with Spicy Pecans. (I suppose for a good cause I could force that down).

The event is from 12-3 (or as long as the soup holds out). Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Parking is free. This sounds like a fun event so please make it part of your Super(Souper)Bowl weekend. Call Bobbie Polay at 516-883-6566 for more information or visit their website to see other events.
