Ritz Carlton Has A Better Customer Service. But For Big Bucks

By virtue of having my office in the Condo-Hotel, I am involved in them more than I would like it.

There are advantages of having the office in the condo-hotel and disadvantages. Advantage is that you are on the ocean. You can walk out of your office and enjoy the breeze, give rest to your eyes, just take a break and recoup. Of course, I do not do any of that, but isn't it this way in life: we are dying to have something, and then never use it. Knowing that I can go there any time, that;s what important. Also, the convenience of the location. If they passed us going East, then next stop is Africa. ... Second resort south of International Speedway Blvd is usually enough for everyone to find us.

The negative is you deal with many inexpensive properties, and they are even more time consuming than half million dollar residential condos. And the biggest problem that people come to stay, owners and guests, they have plenty of time, and they come, and we talk, and this takes a lot of our time. But this is our problem.

I find it veryentertaining reading comments on Trip Adviser about Daytona Beach Condo-hotels. One is great, the other is awful, then again great, and then again awful. And this is pretty similar for the crappiest condo-hotels and for the most luxurious. Well... sort of. O the crap there will be a few "awful" more than on the expensive luxury resorts.

My take on thatis that nothing is absolute. It is only a matter of things meeting our expectations. If this is what we expected, we are content. If it exceeds our expectations, we are happy. And this year it exceeded our expectations, and we were happy, and next year it was only OK, as we expected it, and even noticed a couple of things that we did not like, etc.

What surprises me is when people pick the property because it is under $50 a night and it is right on the Atlantic Ocean, come and get so upset and so angry... What did they really expect to find? Ritz Carlton? You gotta be kidding me! For under $50 a night, I wouldn't be surprised at anything, or nearly anything. Comfort is what we pay for. And for under $50 a night you get, well, limited comfort. Whining really surprises me.

You want to be pampered like James Bond? It is expensive. You need to add at least a 0 to that nightly rate.

If you waited a year for that one week of priceless vacation, do not go with that "buy one, get one free" mindset. But if you want to save money, then do it... and enjoy it. You still have the ocean, the beach, the weather, and all for the price of what? A parking in Manhattan for 48 hours?

Yes, Ritz Carlton has a better customer service. But for big bucks

Jon,

Happy Thanks Giving!

If you enjoy people and I'm sure you do even all those vacationing lookie-loues can't be all bad. Use the local amenities or not isn't it wonderful? Today is a day to appreciate what we have Ocean views and free social intercourse are in deed wonderful.

Bill

Bill - I am glued to the Ocean. Even if I only look at it from my window, it is a fascinating view, and I am not even thinking of changing the setting, at least for now.

I do enjoy people, and when I am talking about distraction, I am the first one to blame, as I enjoy talking to them, so whever said that time is money, knew what they were saying (LOL)

happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

I am sure there are people who are not happy with their stay in Ritz Carlton either. But for under $50 a night one thing is for sure: this is not going to be a Ritz Carlton

This reminds me of a new client a few years ago...I had met the husband on a previous house hunting trip, then he returned a couple of weeks later with his wife, whom I soon found was not interested in moving to the area.  I knew it was going to be a long, uncomfortable day when I picked them up at a Ritz Carlton and she was complaining the minute she got in the car.  LOL  p.s. Nope, they never moved, either!

Your office view sounds heavenly...there is nothing like the ocean!

Vadim -  Iguess you are right, and you can see it just by reading next comment (LOL)

Susan - I hear you. You can only do what you do, but not create the need for people to move here. This is what they need to decide BEFORE coming to you. I would not object to a direct question like "Tell me why I NEED to move here out of all other places in Florida and in the nation. this is at least fair. What I do not like is when people come from New York, and for several months they were receiving information very specific to their requests, and then after 3 days the lady tells me that she just spoke with her friend in New york, and she said "Are you crazy to buy in Daytona?". Had the lady ever been in Daytona? No, but she heard something. So, why bother and even come here from New York, when you would follow the advice of someone in New york anyway?

As for the office location, you can't beat it. And our office in this building is the closest thing to Ritz Carlton (And may be still far)

You can't park in Manhattan for 48 hours for 50 bucks, man, that was years ago:-)

Inna - I thought the crisis hit them and they are modest. Wrong again...

Dan -  I suspected that (I am afraid that this would not propel me to the genius status). "You get what you pay for" still works wonders. For under $50 a night in US on the Ocean get ready for a rrrrrrrramble... (Michael Buffet's announcements of a boxing match)
