By virtue of having my office in the Condo-Hotel, I am involved in them more than I would like it.
There are advantages of having the office in the condo-hotel and disadvantages. Advantage is that you are on the ocean. You can walk out of your office and enjoy the breeze, give rest to your eyes, just take a break and recoup. Of course, I do not do any of that, but isn't it this way in life: we are dying to have something, and then never use it. Knowing that I can go there any time, that;s what important. Also, the convenience of the location. If they passed us going East, then next stop is Africa. ... Second resort south of International Speedway Blvd is usually enough for everyone to find us.
The negative is you deal with many inexpensive properties, and they are even more time consuming than half million dollar residential condos. And the biggest problem that people come to stay, owners and guests, they have plenty of time, and they come, and we talk, and this takes a lot of our time. But this is our problem.
I find it veryentertaining reading comments on Trip Adviser about Daytona Beach Condo-hotels. One is great, the other is awful, then again great, and then again awful. And this is pretty similar for the crappiest condo-hotels and for the most luxurious. Well... sort of. O the crap there will be a few "awful" more than on the expensive luxury resorts.
My take on thatis that nothing is absolute. It is only a matter of things meeting our expectations. If this is what we expected, we are content. If it exceeds our expectations, we are happy. And this year it exceeded our expectations, and we were happy, and next year it was only OK, as we expected it, and even noticed a couple of things that we did not like, etc.
What surprises me is when people pick the property because it is under $50 a night and it is right on the Atlantic Ocean, come and get so upset and so angry... What did they really expect to find? Ritz Carlton? You gotta be kidding me! For under $50 a night, I wouldn't be surprised at anything, or nearly anything. Comfort is what we pay for. And for under $50 a night you get, well, limited comfort. Whining really surprises me.
You want to be pampered like James Bond? It is expensive. You need to add at least a 0 to that nightly rate.
If you waited a year for that one week of priceless vacation, do not go with that "buy one, get one free" mindset. But if you want to save money, then do it... and enjoy it. You still have the ocean, the beach, the weather, and all for the price of what? A parking in Manhattan for 48 hours?
Yes, Ritz Carlton has a better customer service. But for big bucks
