Adventures of a real estate agent....

By
Real Estate Agent with Exit Pro Realty

Today, I became a cowgirl.  My real estate partner is a cowgirl with real cows.  Me, I have to use the neighbor's cows.

Our neighbor has cows that seem to find every ditch and hole in our fence.  This morning was no different.  I look out my windows and there are 2 calves on our land so I go out the back door to chase them back over to their home next door.

Feeling pretty good about myself, I start lunch.  I'm just about finished and there are those calves again.  Dropping lunch again, I run the calves almost down to the creek watching them climb through and under the fence.

Finally, I can eat my lunch!  Just as I was taking the last bite, here come 6 black cows running through my gate and onto my land.  Now, these are not calves....but big black cows.

You have to understand....I'm a city girl.  I have never lived in the country in my life.  I do love living in the country though, but life is "different" out here.

My neighbor to the west of my house has 3 dogs, one of which is a pup about 9 months old named Bailer.  He's very friendly so here he comes following me to the cows.  I look around and say, "Well, come on Bailer.  Let's get these cows back home."  He wags his tail and falls in line behind me.

There is one pretty large cow that is separated from the others so I go after her first with Bailer on my heels.  She looks up at Bailer and I and turns towards the creek at a slow clip.  I'm waving my arms while Bailer barks which moves her a little faster.  I'm thinking....we have her on the run headed in the right directions.  Then I see 5 others but they are trying to head away from the opening in the fence so I tell Bailer to keep after this one and I'll head off the other 5.

I'm just about to reach the other cows when the one cow turns and moos at Bailer.  The next think I know Bailer has taken off in a dead run, ears back and not missing a step, headed back to his home....scared to death.  I'm yelling at Bailer to come back and help me with these cows, but I don't think he was listening.  All I could see was a brown streak headed across the field.  Never thought I would see a dog so scared of a big black cow!

Well, I guess I'll just have to get my Yukon and take them back home myself. Round ‘em up and head ‘em home!

My life as a real estate agent....there's always an adventure awaiting.
