The "Unofficial" Aggie Bonfire

By
Real Estate Agent with BCR Realtors 262359

Well.. another "unofficial"  Texas Aggie Bonfire came and went this past weekend in Robertson county, Texas.  In case you don't know the real deal was canceled several year back after the official bonfire collapsed killing several Texas Aggie students who were working on the log stacking. The current event is just around the corner from our home near Blackjack community in Robertson County. One of the local land owners has successfully capitalized on this annual event by opening up a large hayfied for parking . Yellow buses were hired to shuffle several thousand Aggies attending from the parking area to the bonfire  a few miles away. I am certain this helps cut down on alcohol related issues and car wrecks.

Trey, I didn't know they had this alternative bonfire but thanks for the photo. The accident years ago was a tragedy for sure and a little of that on campus tradition was lost due to the safety hazard.

I've never been to the unofficial bonfire but I'd love to go some year.

As I said this is the unofficial one...but I hear rumors that there is a move to bring back the real deal sponsored by the school. I haven't been t0 the unofficial one but attended the originals many times.

It is kind of nice that they are keeping with tradition, but lets just pray that they keep safe in doing them! We dont want another tragedy

That has been my concern too.  One thing is they are all hauled in on buses so alchhol is at a minimum.
