Newnan house in snowWhen tempests swirl above the crown
And heaven's dust conceals the tone.
The siren's blasts though fissures slink
To permeate through crack and chink.

In most parts of the country, winter has already arrived. There is a bit of excitement associated with the first cold waves of the season. A lot of locales have even experienced early snows and they gear up for full holiday mode.

This is the exciting part of winter. It's the season of "Over the River and Through the Woods" and holiday decorating, and the partaking of sumptuous food with family and friends. It is both energizing and invigorating, and it puts everyone into high spirits!

Although we have not experienced any snow in Newnan Georgia this season, we have had chilling temperatures near twenty degrees, very cold for this part of the land this early in the year. The cool temperatures are perfect for long evening walks to look at Christmas lights, or even a "sleigh ride" in a little red convertible!

And now is the also time we remember all of those holiday tasks that we were going to do early this year. We were not going to do any last minute scrambling; we were supposed to have it all together!

Maybe next year, what time does the grocery store close this afternoon?

Richard, no snow yet here in my neck of the woods. Your photo jumped off the page. It looks like you used the Zone System. Ansel Adams would be proud of you. A Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Richard - a realtor, a musician, a photographer and a poet, such a renaissance  man. I like your verse. Have the thanksgiving shopping done, but, my wife's birthday is a week from today and I have no clue what to get her, much less what to get her for Christmas. Yet another Fran Tarkenton season for me.

Big Mike...

I still can't believe that Fran stepped out out bounds on 4th down at the end of Super Bowl IX, but I digress. Take care of your better half, you'll get the job done.

Susan...

I know you will be VERY busy over the next few days!

Richard:  Only bone chilling temps and some snow flurries to date in Northern Virginia.  But I was thrilled to get up my Christmas tree (just lights on it now) and start burning my favorite Christmas candle by the Yankee Candle Company: MISTLETOE.  That candle is the smell of pure Christmas joy.  I start it going after work and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hey Richard, nice snow post.  Do you get much snow in Newnan?  I bet it melts quickly.  The snow here from the other day is still around.  We are getting more on Sunday.  And so the winter begins!
