Thanksgiving reminds us to pause and in our lives look around at the blessings we have had bestowed upon us. In biology, so often we think of memory as an array of neurons and synaptic connections providing both short term and long term accounts of events in our lives. But there is a special kind of memory that is evoked with a day like Thanksgiving. These are the emotional connections. The ones that give us good feelings. A tear may well up in our eyes, you may just thank your lucky stars that you have this in your life, or been blessed by what has happened to you, or spared from disaster.
Most often this memory is related to the "goodness" of other people in your life and what they mean to you. DO NOT miss this chance, with the shortness of life for all of us, on this Thanksgiving day, to thank those that are significant in your life. THEY NEED TO KNOW. It will be a GREAT gift on your part showing this gratitude, and it will stick with them forever as a gift from your heart. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving this year.
"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit"
Albert Schweitzer
