Ah, come on. No Fair! Such an interesting, expressive shot and no explanation. My interest in piqued.

I agree. Explanations are needed for this picture. What is it?

Terri, I agree, this picture is interesting enough that it begs a description!

Such a beautiful landscape and then you realize there is a guy with a gun and a military helicopter. Beauty and violence are quite the fascinating combination. This has always been foremost in my mind when I think of the south where I was raised. Nature often displays the same concepts...okay so you see your photo really has me.

Rich - It is a bit of a dichotomy, now isn't it.  I don't know if you can tell from the pic, but the guy with the gun was trying really hard not to smile and "be tough".

Chris - I'll be back with one shortly :~)

Terri, so fair; but very interesting. Apparently its some were our seas, the two taller gentleman appear to be reporters and the little short heavily arm guy is there guide and bodyguard. the helicopter appears to be civilizen type. Wrong, there just not loaded with missles and gunnery. What's the story on it Terry.

That is a great guess Roy!  But I guess it's time to give the real scoop.

Here's the Scoop!

The picture was taken at one of two military check points we have to pass through on our way down the Rio Coco River to the Miskito Indian village of Walakitang, Nicaragua.  The gentleman to the left in red is Michael Perkins.  He and his family are missionaries living in Los Cedros, Nicaragua.  The other gentleman to the right is my hubby, Randy Visser.  We hook up with Michael and head down the river to do medical missions.  The "press passes" around their necks are really copies of their passports.  Military personal posing for pictures is a no no but he decided to take the risk.  His gun is actually as tall as he is :~)

Hi Terri- I'm so glad the story was here when I got here.  That's the one things about wordless wednesdays that bugs me.  I need to be more patient, but I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
