On this day before Thanksgiving, I hope you are not getting drug down by all the "chicken little" press that claims the sky is falling. Even Warren Buffet says it is not as bad as people think. Yes, there is a problem but we always find a way out.
My experience tells me that how your day turns out is based on whether you focus on all the things that went wrong or all the things that went right. With all our problems, we are so much better off than most people in the world. I never will forget meeting someone from another county who was shocked that our "poor people" had TVs, sometimes two. Many had cars and so much more than the poor in other countries. It is all a matter of perspecitive.
It reminds me of two things. First, is the saying ....".I cried because I didn't have shoes till I saw a man that had no feet." the other is a story about Stephen Hawking. He is on of the most brilliant minds of our time cruely trapped in a useless body. In one of his lectures, he because in balanced and slumped over. He had to be helped to sit up. After getting back to his lecture, he said something like (I paraphrase) ...."I am whining a little today about some back pain. What are you whining about today?"
No matter where you are in life, you have many blessings. Your health, family, friends, home, possessions, faith, peace, living in America, etc, etc. Someone told me that one of the things that their family does daily during family prayer is ask that each person think of something they are thankful for ......and they go alphabetically each day. So, if today might be the B day, I might be thankful for Bees, or Bread or Bands or Boats, etc. Sounds silly but when you realize how our lives would be without these little things, they are all blessings.
Frankly my biggest one is my knowledge of faith. To know that I have a heavenly father who cares about me and to know that this life is not all, is one of my greatest blessings.
I pray that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
