It was a beautiful week in Wake Forest last week!  Friends and families from all over gathered together to celebrate Thanksgiving and you can tell by the license plates that they were from EVERYWHERE!

Fire Department Promotional Ceremony
Monday, December 1; 7:00 p.m.
Binkley Chapel
The Wake Forest Fire Department is having a ceremony to recognize firemen who are being promoted. The service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 1 at Binkley Chapel on the campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The guest speaker will be will be John McGrath, City of Raleigh Fire Chief. The presentation of colors will be provided by the Wake Forest-Rolesville High School ROTC. The following personnel are being promoted: Daryl Cash to Services Chief; Ed Barrett to Captain; Stephen Driver to Captain; Jeremy Blake to Captain; Tony Lamberti to Lieutenant; Ben Davis to Lieutenant; Jordan Hill to Lieutenant; Steven Wagner to Lieutenant; Matthew Strawbridge to Lieutenant; and Michael Dahle to Lieutenant. Community Christmas Dinner
Tuesday, December 2, 7:00 p.m.
The Forks Cafeteria
Wake Forest celebrates Christmas and the end of another wonderful year at the annual Community Christmas Dinner. Sponsored by the Wake Forest Community Council of Civic Organizations and hosted by the Wake Forest Garden Club, the occasion is traditionally scheduled on the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Citizen of the Year, Club or Organization of the Year and the Peggy Allen Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at this special event. Tickets are $17 per person and available at the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call (919) 556-1519.


Beach Bingo at The Well

Wake Forest Woman's Club Christmas Meeting
Thursday, December 4; 6:30 p.m.
Wake Forest Community House, 133 W. Owen Ave.
The Wake Forest Woman's Club will have it's Christmas Meeting, Thursday, December 4 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Wake Forest Community House, 133 W. Owen Ave. The program, entitled Story Book Christmas, will be presented by Drew Bridges of Story Tellers Book Store of Wake Forest. Wake Forest Presbyterian Church, 12605 Capital Blvd., Wake Forest
Wake Forest Presbyterian Church is presenting the 9th annual "Walk through Bethlehem" living nativity program at the following times: Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm; Sunday, December 7, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. There will also be an interactive program on Saturday, December 6, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.  Visitors will experience the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of first century Bethlehem in the marketplace. We are very excited to say that on December 13, from 5:00 - 9:00, for the first time ever, the tours will be spoken entirely in Spanish (en Espanol). Please come, hear and see that night in Bethlehem recreated when Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior was born! All events are free to the public.  Donations of canned goods and gifts suitable for babies will be accepted. Lighting of Wake Forest

Downtown Wake Forest
The holiday season officially begins with the Lighting of Wake Forest. This event features musical talent from our local schools, a visit from Santa and hot apple cider with cookies! The Lighting of Wake Forest is proudly sponsored by WakeMed, and organized by the Wake Forest Downtown Revitalization Corporation. Breakfast with Santa, hosted by the Wake Forest Junior Woman's Club
Saturday, December 6; 7:30 a.m. - Noon
The Mill Room at The Factory 
Breakfast with Santa is fun way to kick-off the holiday season with your family. You and your family will enjoy taking a photo with Santa and having breakfast. Flea Market at The Well
Saturday, December 6; 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Join us for our second Flea Market, Saturday December 6 from 8 am until 2 pm in The Well's parking lot. Come eat and shop all day! 2008 Wake Forest Christmas Historic Home Tour
December 6; 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Wake Forest Historic District
The Town of Wake Forest will host its Christmas Historic Home Tour this year on Saturday December 6, 2008 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The tour is presented every two years by the Wake Forest Historic Preservation Commission and the Wake Forest Woman's Club. This year's tour will feature several properties which have either not been on the tour before or have not appeared on the tour for several years. New this year - look for horse and carriage rides and entertainment by the Victorian Carolers out of Louisburg, NC. This is a self-guided tour primarily in the Wake Forest Historic District around the seminary campus and up North Main Street. Other properties will be nearby.  Tickets the day of the tour will be $15.00. Discounted advance tickets will be available during November 2008 at several area locations, including the Wake Forest Town Hall. Please note that these are mostly private homes and may not be handicap accessible. For more information, contact Agnes Wanman at awanman@wakeforestnc.gov.

Hanging of the Greens - A Festive Celebration of Carols, Candlelight and Hanging of the Greens
Sunday, December 7; 6:30 p.m.
Wake Forest Baptist Church,

Wake Forest Baptist Church's Annual Community Hanging of the Greens will be Sunday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the church's sanctuary, 107 E. South Avenue, Wake Forest. You will not want to miss this beautiful candlelight concert that ushers in the Advent and Christmas Season for our community. The pre-service music will begin at 6:15 with music by a guest Brass Quintet and music by the WFBC Hand Bell Choirs. The service will include candlelight, Christmas carols with brass quintet, majestic pipe organ, and choirs.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the community. A "Cookie Party" reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
