maine white tail deer, mooers realtySee these alot in Maine! Beautiful gentle animals huh? Hard to believe their cousins can fly and pull heavy sleds with overweight  beaded driver and lots of elves to help distribute presents in a 12 hour period!

Nice photo, Marilyn, and you didn't scare him off.   Very clever comment, Andrew.

Dinah- they're only cute until you realize they've decimated the shrubs

James- the word is "overpopulated" - describes the deer population in CT

Andrew - great idea. I think the local inhabitants should volunteer to help their cousins

Shirley- I was working at home, on the computer, when I noticed movement at the window.  Grabbed the camera and snapped the picture before my friend realized he was on candid camera.

Reading my responses over, I realize they sound a bit cruel.  Watching nature, right outside my door, is fascinating.  However, between the deer and the wild turkeys, my property has become a smorsgabord.  They've eaten my roses, my evergreens are now everbrowns and even the "deer proof" plantings are not safe (I guess deer don't read.)  Last week, I found a deer sleeping, draped across the lower step to my deck.  I wasn't fast or quiet enough to catch that photo.

Debra-  They must like something about my shrubs.  They've seemed to have settled on my property as the preferred lunch and dinner spot.
