Although it's hard to believe, it's time for our free and affordable holiday happenings for the Athens, Georgia area! With money tight for most everyone this year, rest assured I'll be searching out some of the best holiday fun that is affordable for everyone!
Let's start with the Athens, Georgia Parade of Lights 2008 which will be winding it's way through downtown Athens on Thursday, December the 4th at 7pm. Bring a thermos of hot cocoa, dress warmly and you are set to go. And ask one of my favorite lenders, Amy Coile of Classic City Mortgage, about her UNEXPECTED appearance in the parade a few years ago.
Cocoa, S'mores & Stories are in store for your kiddies ages 4-8 on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Rocksprings Park. Only $1.00 per child but you must call for reservations at 706.613-3606.
HO, HO, HO have breakfast with Santaat the Sandy Creek Nature Center for only $5.00 if you are an Athens-Clarke County Resident & only $7.00 if you live in other areas. There will be 3 sessions on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 8am, 9am, and 10am but you MUST pre-register at 706.613-3615.
Take a look at the Athens Clarke County Leisure Services Department site, they have tons of Holiday Fun slated with something for every age.
Head out to thriving artist community of Comer, GA in nearby Madison County, GA on Friday December 5th, 2008 from 6pm until 10pm for the Bluebell Gallery's 8th annual Open House and see some spectacular local artwork. FREE admission, unless you buy of course :)
You can get your free tickets to the Athens Symphony Christmas Concert now from the Classic Center box office. You must have tickets, and you should hurry up and get them but again this is a great free, family fun outing on Saturday December 13th at 8pm or Sunday December 14th at 3pm, 2008!
Sing, sing a song! Join the Athens First United Methodist Churchon Lumpkin Street on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 7pm for "A Contemporary Christmas: Lessons & Carols" featuring singing, scripture readings and special music. FREE Fun and filled with Holiday Spirit!
