My Second Blog, no really. Christmas, Consumerism, Change- www.Adventconspiracy.org

I don't know what possessed me to post this blog tonight. I have been down about my business, my family, my finances, and especially my three teenage materialistic daughters.  How can I change their view of money and of living a life to good purpose?

And our office has decided to deviate from the corporate Toys for Tots campaign and sponsor a local family in need through a social service agency.  Wonderful, but the response has so far been weak. The family needs everything from shoes to food to towels.  I think of this as an opportunity to make a lasting change in the life of a family where we live, work and play.

Change begins with me and how I approach the coming season.  So I decided to just be bold for a change and briefly share some information about some people making some changes that matter.  For me the change will start with spending less (a lot less) and giving more.

Not to say that you must make the same change or even care.  My suggestion is to visit www.adventconspiracy.org and just watch some of the videos. If you are looking for something in this season besides consumerism, well here you go.

Happy Holidays   Merry Christmas.

Thank you Mary. We enjoyed a more peaceful Christmas than I can recall having in a while. Fewer gifts under the tree, more focus on serving others leads to a greater sense of gratitude (at least for me, and I think for all.)   And thanks for responding to this blog.   My first blog got a number of responses and even though it was intended to be humorous not everyone who responded got it.

Happy 2009 to you and your family.
