Growing up in Boulder, I loved to play at the "Spaceship Park" - more commonly known as Scott Carpenter Park. Recently, I took my own children to the park and was reminded of how much I loved this place as a child. It truly is a breathtaking spot in Boulder, Colorado and I would like to share it with you!
The park sits in the middle of town, near the new Twenty Ninth St. shopping district and close to many University of Colorado buildings. There is easy access with handicap accessible parking, a bus stop and a connection to the city's bike path.
Scott Carpenter was born in Boulder on May 1st, 1925. He is known for his pioneering work as one of our nation's first Astronauts. Made famous by his flight of the second American manned orbital flight in the Aurora 7 spacecraft, Carpenter is a local hero.

Not only does the park have a family-friendly playground, but it also boasts a pool with waterslide and Boulder's Skate Park. Many children and adults alike enjoy the long, sloping sledding hill in the winter! The park also sits just north of a city baseball field.
