Do the Hustle!

I was speaking with a long time friend yesterday and we were discussing the current economical situation.  This particular person is an astute business man, has a genuine concern for others, and is an amazing leader.  I personally know that in his business life he has gone through tremendously difficult times.  I have watched him start businesses with literally nothing but borrowed and used equipment, very little money, and others telling him "you'll never make it."  Somehow he has proven all of them wrong. 

On top of the fact that he was not born with a silver spoon, had very little leadership at home, and very limited education, he continues to be successful in an industry that swallows up small businesses and is in competition with some very heavy hitters.  When I told him that I was going to open my real estate company, Real Living Advantage, he was the only encouraging voice I heard. 

So, yesterday I was bemoaning this difficult time to him and he said, "You'll be fine you just have to out hustle the other guy."  Wow, how simple but how true!  My high school coaches you to say, "You have to want it more than the other guy."  No matter how you put it, in today's market you have to hustle. 

Last March after several months of preparation I opened Real Living Advantage, a franchise of Real Living, headquartered in Columbus Ohio.  I was the first Real Living Franchise in Georgia,  I'm in a town that's been dominated by a few very well run major franchises, and to be honest I'm still very young  (4 years now) in the real estate business.    Looking back to March I see some great progress.  Not only are we keeping up, we have already passed some of the older established companies.  What makes the difference?  I have great agents that hit the ground running every day.  They answer their phones, return their calls, respond to their emails, take great care of their customers and clients, work on their company and personal brand daily, and are constantly looking for new business and innovative ways to market themselves, their properties, and our company.

Don't give up, don't give in to the negativity, "you'll be fine, you just have to out hustle the other guy."

This is usually the case because most people that want to give advice have not had the success that your friend has had.

I try to listen and associate with people that are where I want to be - it looks like you do too. :)

You speak the truth on this one. So many agents are walking around zombified right now and oblivious to the realities of a unbelieveably different market.

I am a Pollyanna and always look at the best side of things....sometimes people get mad at me for it but I have seen a lot worse times and I just count my blessings because now I am better then I have every been in my life!  I just feel so BLESSED!
