Rescued Horses Need Help

By
Real Estate Agent with Cindy Stys Equestrian and Country Properties, Ltd. PA License #AB068077

As some of you may know, I volunteer with the Lehigh Valley Animal Response Team.  This morning, I just received a call for help from the Pocono Animal Rescue.

They just took in 6 severely emaciated horses and need help.  One of the Horses had to be euthanised because it was too weak to stand up.  It was 8 years old.

Blankets, halters, leads, as well as hay are needed.  More urgently, money is needed for serious vet bills.  If anyone can donate a bale of hay, a used halter, blanket or a couple of dollars please call June Parker, cruelty officer of the Pocono Animal Rescue.

Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.

Pocono Animal Rescue's (PAR) number is  570-476-1464.

Donations a can also be made online through PAR's site: http://poconoanimalrescue.org/donate.html

PAR is a 501c3 Non Profit corporation who's sole purpose is to rescue neglected, abused or starved large animals.

Brigita I wish I had the money to give!!  I had someone call me a moth ago and ask me to take one in the same condition.  It broke my heart to say no!  I pray at this point that I can keep my own horses fed and in my own back yard!!  I will say a prayer though for those horses!

Most of us have tight budgets these days unfortunately.  I'm sure the rescue would appreciate any help any one can give.  Even your prayers are accepted.

Thank you!

Brigita-

I have a vacant six stall horse barn but no hay.  I would donate the barn and my time to care for them but I would need help with the hay bill since the price of hay is through the roof at this time of year.

You are doing great work.

I was just curious about the horse/update...are they OK/adopted?

Kristin:

They are not up for adoption, yet.  The Rescue wants to be sure they are gaining some weight and are healthy before officially adopting them out.  If they are nice horses, I don't think there will be a problem having them adopted.

Once the horses are all vetted and brought back to health, everything shoudl work out.  If they are nice horses, there should be no problems placing them into new homes.
