New Name for Oatmeal Festival The thirteenth annual Lafayette Oatmeal Festival will have a new name in 2009—
Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival. Lafayette Community Events announces that Quaker Oatmeal, the Festival’s major sponsor for the last 12 years, will be the title sponsor for 12 more years. “It makes perfect sense to rename the Festival,” says Gary Klaphake, Lafayette City Administrator. “This Event is all about bringing people together at the beginning of a new year to promote heart healthy lifestyles. With Quaker Oatmeal, that’s exactly what we do. It’s no coincidence that the Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival is scheduled in January every year—it’s National Oatmeal Month!” “Not only is the City proud to bring this family health event to all our citizens, we are proud of our long-time relationship with Quaker Oatmeal,” says Lafayette, Colorado Mayor Chris Cameron. “This is one of our landmark Festivals—it’s very different from the typical craft fair—I am proud this health-centered Festival will continue for years to come.”
The recipient of the Colorado Governor’s Award for Excellence, the Lafayette Quaker Oatmeal Festival includes an Oatmeal Breakfast with the world’s largest toppings bar, the Quicker Quaker 5K Walk /Run, a certified qualifier for the Bolder Boulder, and an interactive Health Fair. Boulder Community Hospital and Community Medical Center sponsor the Heath Fair which includes health screenings, health and science related programs and demonstrations. Attracting thousands from Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and Washington, this one day event will be held on January 10, 2009, in Lafayette, Colorado.
