Photoblogging Knoxville's annual Christmas Parade

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Shoreline New Hampshire & Maine

Last night (Friday, Dec. 5) was Knoxville' annual Christmas Parade. Even though it was around 30 degrees the Saturday news said they estimated the crowds at 35,000.

I think that was a great turnout for such a cold night but.....Santa Claus was there and it is Christmas.

Gay Street waiting for the parade to state

There were lots of kids of all ages. We got there about 45 minutes early and were able to get a good spot right on the curb. That turned out to be a good move because by the time the parade started people were lined up 5 to 6 deep all along Gay Street.

The Knoxville City and Knox County motorcyle officers are set to lead the way once the parade gets underway

Thanks Jim-love the pictures! Our parade here in Johnson City is just not as "grand" as Knoxcille.  I'll have to remember to make the trip next year and enjoy it in person.  By the way, Rachel (my daughter) is marching with the Science Hill High School Band in the Rose Bowl parade, January 1st.  Whoo-hoo.  They round the tv camaras between 11:15-11:30 EST.  Hope you watch-I'll have my flip camara going!

I love holiday parades. Our town parade is next Saturday and we may have a few thousand people line the streets...nothing like the size of yours!

I love any sort of parade as long as they have marching bands and a float or two or even no floats and lots of bands and other units.

Our high school ROTC used to march in lots of parades in Chattanooga, that was a fun time for me.
