WHY DO I DO IT? DELIVERING KEN'S LAKEWOOD CROSSING VIEW.

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Residential

The thermometer read 16 degrees as I pulled up in my Jeep Liberty to Lakewood Crossing, a subdivision of moderately priced homes in Naperville Illinois.

Overcast.  Occasional flurries.  Cold.

There was snow on the ground.  Not deep.  Just enough to make walking treachorous...

I had 365 of my newsletters stuffed inside of my Keller Williams bag.

It would be a long day.

Why do I do it?

I must say the thought has crossed my mind several times.  Especially this week.

Maybe I could wait until it gets warmer?

I don't do much business in Lakewood Crossing anyway...

What a silly business plan!

These were my thoughts as I looked at the weather reports.  The only day that was available on my schedule was Friday, the coldest day of the week...

I dressed in several layers.  Two coats.  Sweatshirt.  Turtle neck.  T-shirt.  Sweat pants under my jeans.

I was ready.

But it would be a long day indeed...

I heard a saying that the definition of success is "the willingness to do what others are unwilling to do."

Ken,

Consistency is the best way to go and you will need time off here pretty soon when the snow starts getting deep.

Hi Ken, Many of these homeowners will remember you going out into the freezing weather to deliver their newsletter.  You will be rewarded.

The cold wasn't so bad.  My legs sure needed a rest, though.

I hope you all have a great weekend,

Ken - you are really putting yourself out there - literally - and people will remember.  If they don't have a house to sell, chances are they will remember you treking in the snow to deliver a newsletter and will recommend you! Go Ken Go.

Ken I think you do it because you are working for a living not gining up.  Way to go.

Ken...have you gotten much business from your newsletter?  How often do you go out to a particular neighborhood?  Also, is your realtor association allowing you to put current sales in your newsletter if they aren't yours?  I checked in my area and it does not appear that I can do that unless they are my own...haven't checked to see if I can advertise my company listings though....also, are you knocking on doors or just leaving them in the door for people?  Sorry, lots of questions...I just put together a newsletter for my neighborhood and I was wondering how it worked for you...

Thanks!

Hi John and Sonja.  Thanks so much for reading.

John thanks.  You are correct sir.

Sonja, I hit a neighborhood every two months.  I haven't checked with my association.  I have knocked on these doors before (about a year and a half ago).  I currently hang them in plastic bags on the door knobs.

I have gotten business.  Not lately.  Few are moving right now.  I expect a pickup in activity next year.

Thanks again,

Ken

Hi Janna.  Thanks for the support.

Obviously, I am doing other things as well.  But I would be doing them anyway.  What I wrote here, I needed a little extra encouragement.

Thanks again,

Hi Debbie.  You are correct.  It feels good when I am out.

The alternative is laying around and feeling sorry for myself.:)
