Tastes in design come and go. There was a time here in McKinney, Texas when houses above a certain price point had kitchen appliances you may not see today. For a period there were trash compactors. Many of our homes also had wet bars with refrigerators or dedicated ice makers. These little, half sized appliances it turns out are very expensive to replace or repair. I have had a couple of recent clients who remodeled a kitchen (compactor) or wet bar (ice maker) and were faced with replacing an ailing appliance. When investigating repair or replacement they discovered an alternative that is more in fashion and much less expensive--the wine refrigerator. This trade out makes the space look more up to date and many people find it to be more useful than the out of fashion appliances. Think creatively. As real estate agents, we see hundreds of solutions to problems. I suggested the wine refrigerator yesterday to a seller who was really excited about being able to fix a $1200 problem for as little as $200.

Those appliances go with the pink, turquois and yellow bathroom tile. I have actually seen a nostalgic remodel job using all of these.
