Donate Unused Gift Cards

By
Real Estate Agent with Frank Rubi Real Estate

Earlier this month I posted a blog on gift cards and companies going out of business.  This is for all of us who have a little amount remaining on gift cards.  Now you can donate any unused portion to the Salvation Army.  Many companies have agreed to pay cash to them for the remaining unused amount.  Follow the link above and donate today.

This is good -- at least there will be some use to be made of the cards and perhaps they Will not go to waste.

What a great idea.  I have a few that have less than 5 bucks each on them and I refuse to throw them away.  Now I know where they wont go to waste and help in the long run.  Thanks for the link.  I am going to forward it to others if you don't mind.

Hi John, There are a lot of folks who use just part of a gift card and what is left  on it doesn't seem worth another trip to a store where they wouldn't normally have shopped.  This is a great solution - they can give to help others at virtually no cost to them.  Wonderful idea.

Due to certain policies of the Salvation Army, they are one charitable organization that I don't do with. Notwithstanding that, they do a lot of good for society, so this is a good program here.

Sounds like a good idea as long as it's not a scam.

Sounds interesting.  I've never heard of this.  I'll have to check it out.

There is one website dedicated to providing this service to multiple charities. www.giftcarddonor.com works with several charities (the list is growing) to turn, what would otherwise be left in drawer, into cash for the benefit of the non-profits. Don't see your fqavorite charity on the list? Recommend them and they will try to register the charity. Keep in mind many of these gift card fundraising programs aren't completely in alignment with states fundraising regulations. Gif t Card Donor is registered nationally as a fundraiser so you can be sure they comply with the rules!
