One Day At A Time, Sweet Jesus

This Sunday has been a powerful one to say the least.  We started the day off with church.  That wonderful place where we can go and turn off the worries of the world.  Our sermon today was from Luke.  The pastor taught on Mary learning that she would give birth to the Messiah and while that was the most wonderful blessing it also required some heartaches as she also knew what her child would face in the future.

He spoke of what a heavy burden we would face everyday if we knew what the future held for our children, family, friends or ourselves.  Our hearts would be in turmoil all the time, knowing there was little we could do to make a difference.  It reminded me of an old song "One Day At A Time" and I believe the vocalist was Christy Lane.  I started to reflect on how the Lord blessed us by only showing us one day at a time with the HOPE we will soon walk out of our valley.

After the benediction, our pastor spoke of those hurting so badly this year.  Those without jobs, some who have lost their homes, those struggling everyday to just get up and muddle through the day.  He said he felt led to have an prayer and anyone that would like to intercede in prayer for those that were hurting to please come kneel, stand or whatever was most comfortable and he would pray with us for our loved ones and friends!

Folks started exiting the pews and the altar was so full there may have been 10 people deep.  Prayer is POWERFUL and what a wonderful way to end our service.  If you every wonder if anyone is praying for you?, I can assure they are!  I don't believe there was a dry eye in our church nor a heart that was not weeping for someone.

Are you down and in need of prayer?  Do you believe God can change your circumstances and work a miracle in your life?

Prayer and faith has been what drives me every day. I preach it to all that will listen. When you are most troubled it will restore.

Let's remember all the people who experience sadness and depression during the holidays in our prayers.  This is an even tougher time for them.

I have experienced that feeling of having your heart in turmoil and knowing that there was nothing I could do to change a situation.  It is a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness.  I too have practiced the One Day at a Time theory.  It is simular to taking baby steps.  Inch by inch, step by step, day by day and keeping it filled with faith, hope and love.

Thanks, Val

GREAT altar call...... to see those who are praying for you is powerful!!!

That is in contrast to when "sinners' go up to the altar...when they might
as well NOT want to... to see others who are "clean" staring at you can be
a horrible experience...

Going to a freind and praying about things and then accepting the Lord as
your Messiah I think is much better.... THEN go before the congregation and say.....

"The Lord has made me whole!!"
