Several years ago, before I got into the real estate profession, we were selling a house and got a referral from a friend for a Realtor. She was friendly and enthusiastic and couldn't do enough to make our life easier by taking care of all the little details. She went over the top with service when she picked up our dry cleaning on a day that was particularly busy for us.
We soon got a full price offer on our house (it was really beautiful), contingent on appraisal. I remember the gloom and doom around our house for a few days when the appraisal came in $10,000 less than the offer and list price. Hmmm. I'm sure the market was different then, but didn't that realtor have any idea that our house was overpriced? It wouldn't have been as much of a shock if we had at least been prepared.
Giving enthusiastic, friendly customer service is VERY important and may be the only thing that clients remember about a Realtor. In addition to great service, I want my clients to think of me as a trusted advisor that gives them good information ... someone they wouldn't dare to make a real estate decision without consulting.
