Once again, the annual Nazareth to Bethlehem Peace Pilgrimage will be held at noon Saturday, December 13th.
The walk's original purpose was to help focus on the meaning of Christmas by recreating the journey of the Holy Family on Christmas Eve. The importance of it has expanded to become a symbol uniting those seeking to promote peace across the world.
The walk, which will be in it's 49th year, will be held rain or shine. The walkers will meet and 10:30AM at Broad St. in Bethlehem. They will then be transported to the Nazareth Moravian Church, where the 10 mile walk will begin and travel down Route 191.
The journey will end at 5:30PM with Christmas carols at the Central Moravian Church, followed by a dinner at the United Church of Christ on Market and Center Streets in Bethlehem. A guest speaker will give a talk on the topic of "Walking Away From Fear".
I personally have not taken this walk. Usually I end up with other plans. It's a nice way to meet others and get exercise, too.
