Things are Changing in East Meridian/SW Eagle and It's Too Much for Some
The Eisenberg Company, a Phoenix based developer, will be facing opposition from area residents Tuesday evening at a City Council meeting. Area residents are opposed to the developer's request that the Eagle Comprehensive Plan be altered to accomodate a commercial development at the NE corner of Linder Rd and Chinden Blvd. The Eisenberg Company wants 40 acres to be annexed into the Eagle Comprehensive Plan.
Homeowners are mainly opposed to the project because they say the transition from commercial to residential is supposed to be a "gradual" one, and that this project calls for a "big box store" that is much larger than they would like.
The commercial center's plans call for 350,000 sq ft of space, anchored by a 160,000 sq ft Fred Meyer store. The mayor of Eagle, Phil Bandy, says that Linder Road is going to be a substantial thoroughfare into Eagle in the future.
