Marketing Tip - Bad Blog Post Titles, Do as I say not as I do!

By
Education & Training with Marketing Artfully

So I wrote a totally fun post today about "How Tos - But EVERYBODY Knows How To Do X!" over on my Thrive Blog. It is all about how you should share your knowledge to lead generate and how you can utilize your expertise to help humanity!

There are tons of things in there that I could have used as a title that would have attracted the internet to index my post so that humans could find it! I could have named it "How Tos - Lead generate using your expert knowledge" or "How to gain market share using what you know"....also good.

BUT I am just not all that concerned that EACH post I write be search engine ready. I DO write posts with lots of keywords in the title and the content to get attention and have my site optimized to get the most bang for my buck BUT I also want humans to enjoy reading my stuff!

I want to make coming to my blog a fun thing and not just one boring optimized post after another! I also try to have a mix of things that people reading my blog will like. Over on Marketing Artfully I talk about hard core Marketing things SOMETIMES and tell stories and have case studies other times. Some people like one kind of post and some like the other. By mixing them up I satisfy both kinds of readers and keep myself a legimate source of knowledge for them!

So to carry on my how to theme of the day....DO try to make a post that has a great search engine title, sometimes. DO write things that humans are interested in also TOO!

PS - I tried to upload a fabulous picture of a computer to break up all the typy-typy, but Active Rain was not cooperating. Could you please visualize a picture of a computer while reading this post so that it seems more fun and festive? Thank you, Tara

Tara, well your graphic was what grapped me today. Love it. It is out of the box. Great goals for your blog.Maybe sometimes, though, we should just "be" and not "do"

I mix it up between eye catching, SEO friendly, and just plain old boring-but-informative for my titles.

@ Randy - Thanks for checking out my how tos post..:)

@ Karen - I admit to some boring but informative, sigh, the pressures of doing the "right" thing from time to time...:)

@ Leesa - How nice...:) My marketing artfully has mostly marketing and case studies, the thrive site tends to be more lead generating-y (I just made that word up right now!!!)
