and that's usually the best place in town to eat.

I have 2 local places that I love, for Mexican food.  The first is located in an old bldg that reminds you of a 1950's cafe and is located near the steel mill.  It's where most of the mill workers go for lunch.  It's called the "Mill Stop Cafe". It's not fancy, owned by the same family forever, and the family works it.  By your 5th or 6th time there, they know your name and pretty much what you at least want to drink. They serve typical mexican fare, tacos (on homemade shells), burritos smothered in red or green chile....LOVE thier green chili! They still give you a sopapilla at the end of the meal along with a bottle of honey and a shaker of cinnamon and sugar. They have the most incredible stuffed sopapillas! And all their guacamole and pico de gallo is made fresh daily!  I have never liked nachos, (the kind with the 'runny cheese sauce stuff'), but everyone kept telling me I'd love the Mill Stops Nachos, so I finally ordered it, Ummmm! Real shredded cheddar cheese, fire roasted green chiles, and beans, closest I've ever come to any nachos as good as these was in Cozumel Mexico in a little place away from  the touristy areas.   Anyone visiting the Pueblo area should try at least 1 meal there! They are open M-F from 6am-9pm.

They are located at  317 Bay State Av Pueblo 81004 Phone 719-564-0407 (carry-out available)

The other Mexican food place I love is Jorges....If you ask anyone in Pueblo where Georges is, they'll probably ask you "George Who?". It's pronounced "Hor Hays".  It's another family owned place. They serve some of the best enchiladas (green or red chili) and fajitas in town. Try the Fajitas!  You will never leave here hungry! Jorges is located on just up the block from the Mill stop at 1319 E. Evans Ave-Pueblo- they can be reached at 719-564-6486.

So next time you come to Pueblo or are heading south, these are both easy on/off locations from I-25 on the south end of Pueblo.

About the House - Home Inspections - Fairhope, AL

Hey Bonnie Marie,

When you come visit Fairhope, Alabama, you just gotta stop in for breakfast at Julwin's. Good ole Southern Home cooked, rib-sticking, down home breakfast. The kind you see in the movies.

Fairhope is a great little community right on Mobile Bay near the Gulf of Mexico.

When you come, leave your big coat at home 'cause it get pretty warm here!

Tom,

Now you're talking!  Grew up with good ole southern cooking, now you have me thinking about a big pot of polk salet and cornbread! Only problem is, there is no polk salet around here! We will be driving to the Florida panhandle this summer, so I will put Fairhope on my list of places to stop and eat!  Thanks!

Summit County Colorado (home to Breckenridge, Keystone, etc)  is so busy with tourists that the locals wait until off season to eat out, and then the restaurants offer "two for one" so that they can keep their staffs busy until the tourists come back.  We love it, and take advantage of the opportunity to try some restaurants that we might not try otherwise.  Being a tourist town, we usually do have some pretty good restaurants, although I have seen some that cater only to tourists and the locals wont' go near!  They usually don't last long though, because you can't make 12 months worth of expenses with about 5 months worth of sales.

Joanne,

I love that area of Colorado!  We take our bike all over the state on weekends during the summer, just exploring different areas.  In your opinion, what is one of the best places to eat there?

Thanks for the comment!

My favorite is Silverheels at the Ore House in Frisco, for dinner.  If you just want appetizer type of things (at dinner prices) try Samplings in Frisco or the Cellar in Breck.  They serve "sample sizes" and samples of wine too, so that you can try different things.  Their food is really good.  For lunch we like the Dam Brewery in Dillon, or the Boatyard in Frisco.  I don't get to Breck to eat a lot, but I hear a lot of people rave about the Ridge St Seafood Grill.  For high dollar but really good food, the Keystone Ranch and the Ski Tip lodge are great.  In the summer we like to eat out on the patio at the Raven at Three Peaks golf course.  You don't need to be playing golf to eat there.  I actually blogged about restaurants some time ago on my other blog, and it will be in the archives at www.mountain-living.com/blog.   Next time you are in the neighborhood, let's get together and trade business cards!

Joanne,

That sounds like a winner! If you are'nt busy when I get over there, if you'll choose the resturant, I'll spring for lunch!

Thanks!
