Wealth is like a river

What's missing? Something is missing!

Once there was a popular song "God Bless the Child that's got his own".  There use to be a time when purchasing land was important.  When having something that was yours was important.  Now we seem to be content with borrowing everything.    We borrow money, too much, we lease cars, and we rent houses.

There was a time when we wanted 20 acres and a mule now we seem to be content with 5 people living in a one bedroom apt and three SUV's in the parking lot. We use to plan to pass on generational wealth, now we pass on generational debt.

I witnessed a scene that helps me understand:  two people in a lunch room one person was short a dollar, she borrowed the money and promised to return it.  Got the loan, purchased her product and left the room.  Within 3 minutes she was back to repay the loan.  Question!  If she could get her own money quickly why not just go get her own funds and wait 3 min.  We have lost the capacity for delayed gratification.  We want it now, we want it fast, and we want it easy.

As a realtor and having seen what this can do to home owners to consumers I simply lament the change and hope we go back to the days when we understood that cash and lots of it was KING.  Wealth does not dwindle it is simple transferred; Wealth is like a river it flows to you or from you.  It doesn't dry up it is simply diverted.

Here is to finding the missing link.
