Time For New Years Goals

Real Estate Agent with Exp Realty - Atlantic County

For many, the holiday times really manage to keep us busy but throw us off our game. We end up doing everything but selling homes.

Recently I just wrote another agent an email about New Years Goals and I thought I would share it. What will you do now to make sure you're going to sell more, earn more in the next year.

Here is a copy of the letter:

Dear xxxxx,

The new year is fast approaching. Every year around this time I take some time to layout my new goals for success and then I re-evaluate them midyear on my birthday. This past year I started out very strong as I decided to make it a point to call every new lead as they came in, plus an email follow up. Later in the year we added the drip campaign to (alert system) and I quit calling every lead. In hind sight it was my marketing mistake for the year.

There is often a very fine line between bringing nothing to the table and just taking the spoon fed lead versus having some unique skills that are a compliment to what our broker does for us. As you know I work daily to add to the big picture.

Here is the tough part...making sure it's all done in the right order.  Adding to the company exposure is what I do when I have done all of my other daily real estate work.  This past year I had 10 sales, 1 listing sale, 12 rental listing contracts and 13 rentals.

My goals for the new year are still being formulated but will fall in something like this.

Increase my sales to :_____

 Increase my rental listings to:______

Increase my rentals to:_______

Increase my sale listings to:_______

Hi Steven,

I like these outcome goals, but I think you should add process goals too - things you can absoultely control and accomplish each and every day.

Maybe its the number of contacts, or a newsletter, or open houses, or whatever.  But a process that you can dictate that you will be successful with.

I appreciate your comments on process goals. I personally live and die by my outlook. Has every action. In this case I did not want to dictate my process. I wanted the agent to become invested in the process she created. You cannot be more correct in your thoughts. Doing a specific action will lead to the end game outcome. I.E, I will blog on Craigslist every Thursday morning.

Have a super year!

Good Luck to you in achieving your goals; writing them down puts you well on your way... I have not yet revisited my reflections on this years goals or set goals for 2009 which is fast approaching... I'll need to get on that!!!
